Letter from Our Chairperson Emilie Wierda.

Dear Ocean Reef Congregation,

The 2018/2019 season is now behind us. What a great season we had together in the Chapel! Next season promises to be outstanding with a great line up of speakers- some new and some favorites returning as well.

On behalf of the Board, please accept our profound thanks for the support that you as members of the congregation, have provided. Your generosity through gifts, tithes and offerings has enabled the marvelous work of our chaplain, engaging worship, discipleship opportunities, special events and focused outreach to those we can bless beyond the gates.

This past season had record breaking attendance at many services with exceptional preaching and music. We rocked and rolled with the FIUnity Gospel Choir and learned about the multiverse with Dr. Haarsma and BioLogos. The Sunrise Service came off flawlessly with exquisite sound for a profound message and music. With your support, we will endeavor to continue this!

Special thanks are due to the sponsors of our guest ministers and event hosts, donors for the University of Miami choir and singers, and for the entire Easter Sunrise Service (all sermons are available for audio listening at www.orcchapel.org).

We also thank our Chaplain Bob Henley for his untiring devotion. We are so fortunate that God has blessed us with Bob's ministry. He is available to be reached this summer at  bhenley@orcchapel.org or cell: 208-720-7807.

Many volunteers make the season so special: choir members, Bible study leaders, ushers, altar guild, potluck hosts, and each of you who give and attend. We are grateful for each of you!

Many of us are looking forward to a new chapel in which to worship. The campaign to raise funds for this will begin in 2020, just a few months from now. The Chapel Foundation will be overseeing this endeavor. Please know that your gifts to the Protestant Congregation are not used for the building. Rather they are used for the ministry and work of the congregation. Thanks be to God; all our financial needs have been met by you. We trust (and are grateful) we can continue counting on you even when building campaign begins.

During May and throughout the summer, community worship will be held at 10:00 am at the Chapel. If you’re in town, please join in. It will be good to reconnect with others. (Acts 2:42-47)

Please feel free to email me with suggestions and comments. I would appreciate hearing from you- emiliew@eglco.com.

May the Lord bless and keep each of you this summer. May you know his peace that passes understanding and mercies new every morning.

 Under God’s Mercy,

Emilie Wierda,
For the Board of the Protestant Congregation
