Message From Our Chairman
Dear Ocean Reef Protestant Congregation:
The 2017-2018 season of the Protestant Congregation is now behind us, and we are looking towards next season’s many blessings, including another season of outstanding and renowned guest speakers.
On behalf of the Board, which I am now honored to chair, please accept our thanks for the support that you, the members of the Congregation, have provided. Your generosity has enabled chaplaincy, worship, learning and study events, and outreach, at Ocean Reef.
This past season has likely been unmatched in terms of attendance, exceptionally fine preaching and wonderful music, outstanding speakers at special events, Bible study series, and an extraordinary Easter Sunrise Service (with an estimated 1500 attending). We intend to keep this up!
Special thanks are due to our Chaplain Bob Henley (who can be reached during the summer at firstname.lastname@example.org, and 305-240-5445), to the sponsors of our guest ministers, and of special event speakers, and the donors for the University of Miami choir singers, and the first-ever live streaming and recording of the Easter Sunrise Service (available for viewing at www.orcchapel.org, as are all sermons from the season).
We also thank the many volunteers who assist in the ministry of the Congregation and the Chapel Foundation for providing the chapel building and annex for our use.
Of course, Hurricane Irma set us back at the beginning of the season, but the Congregation was able to make an early, special Outreach contribution of $30,000 towards new mattresses for Keys residents. This was in addition to the contributions of $50,000 for special projects and needs of faith-based charities in the Keys made during the course of the season.
May the Lord bless you and keep you this summer. Community worship is being held at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays at the Chapel.
I would appreciate your suggestions and comments. My email address is Scott.Schumacker@gmail.com
