Father Thomas Graf was born in the Bronx, New York to Joan and William Graf. He is a third generation Irish/German, with a younger and older sister. His mother was a cradle Roman Catholic, while his father converted to the Roman Catholic Church (From the Episcopal Church) while a soldier in the Navy during WW II. His mother prophesized his call to priesthood, as when he was born she cried out, “Fr. Thomas!” and supposedly the Irish nurse responded, “Sure and begurin, she has him a priest already!”
He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest within The Passionist Religious Community. He served as such ministering a total of 10 years in The Dominican Republic, New Jersey and the New York area. He eventually stepped back from Roman Catholic Priesthood, met his wife (Isabel), and was married. They are blessed to have three daughters and three grandchildren. They joined the Episcopal Church in 2004, and his orders as priest were received in 2012.
Fr. Tom is also Supervisor of Chaplains in a Hospice Program, Chaplain at Ocean Reef Episcopal Mission and teach a World Religion Class on the University Level.
"My beloved, Isabel, and I are thrilled to be a part of the rich tradition of St James The Fisherman. We look forward to our involvement flourishing into full-time status, so that we can dedicate 100% of our time, talents and treasure to our mission here in beautiful Islamorada."
